Solstice in a silent revelry of the year’s longest day, immersed in the hidden green universe of Essenburgpark under the constellation of the stinging nettle. While roaming the paths of this urban nature reserve, participants explore the mythology and folklore intersecting between the Midsummer rituals and the stinging nettle plant via the audio assemblage of stories, music and field recordings guiding through the park.
The sound walk accompanied a screening of Katerina Jazbec’s film Speaking in Nettle Hairs.
Before the screening, at dusk, you’ll be invited to roam the paths of this urban nature reserve through a sound walk designed by Sam Koopman that shares knowledge and mythology surrounding nettles in various cultural contexts.
